మీరు ఎక్కడికి వెళ్ళినా, మీ Hostel మీతోనే ఉంటుంది.

Wherever you go, you carry your hostel.

Fifteen years of register books met twenty-five years of inventory software. Both realised a hostel's beds are inventory too.

Why Kamer? Seven short chapters
Chapter 1

The day I decided

Srinivas's day starts at 5:30, in the kitchen. Breakfast for a few hundred people has to be under way before anyone can ask him anything else. After that it's the phone: the watchman, a manager, a guest who is leaving and wants his advance back.

The advance is written in a register. The register is at that building. And it was written by whoever happened to be at the desk that day, which was often the guest in the room nearest the door. Some of those people left months ago. If Srinivas was away at a site, he found out what had actually happened when the month's money was counted.

He describes it on the podcast without drama. The food is the easy half. The hard half is knowing what's true: which beds are full, who has paid, what was promised to whom. For fifteen years that was simply the job.

Then one day it wasn't. He was at a construction site. A guest had booked a bed with him. The manager didn't know and gave the same bed to someone else. Both turned up. By the time Srinivas heard, the damage was done.

Standing on that site, he asked himself two questions. Why is there no solution for this? And why shouldn't we build one? That was the day he decided.

Chapter 2

Two people who should never have met

Srinivas and Sunil had started building an app. Technology was eating their time. Siva was two desks away in the same co-working space, with 25 years of building systems that track lakhs of invoices for very large companies, 15 of them in the US.

"They knew the business. They knew exactly what they wanted. They just needed someone to build it." Friends asked if this was a step down. His answer: Apple's inventory and a PG owner's beds are the same problem. One of them had software.

Chapter 3

The month-long fight about bed B3

A guest checks in to B3 and says, actually, I want room 4. To Srinivas that's a two-second decision. To Siva it was a month of pro-rated rent maths, half a month here, deposit adjustments there, a developer tied up while other features waited.

"I thought it wasn't necessary. I said so. They won." The change-bed feature took a month. Owners use it constantly. Most competing apps still don't have it.

That's the deal inside Kamer. The owners decide what the problem is. The engineer decides how. Nobody builds a feature from behind a desk.

Srinivas"Just move him to room 4."
Siva"Who pays for the 11 days he was in B3?"
Srinivas"The app should know that."
Siva"That's a month of work."
Srinivas"Then it's a month."
Shipped. Owners' favourite feature.

Chapter 4
Kamer bed map: basement, ground floor and floor 1 with beds colour coded

So this is what they built. Green means empty.

Basement to top floor, room by room. Filter by sharing, AC or non-AC. A bed is green, grey, orange or blue: empty, occupied, notice period, or booked for next month.

When a guest calls asking for a three-sharing AC bed, you answer from the bus. When a manager says a floor is full, you check. When you're deciding whether to take a daily booking, the answer is already on the screen.

  • Advance and rent recorded against the guest, forever
  • Daily bookings, advance bookings with token, "common" bookings without a bed yet
  • Change a guest's bed and the pro-rated rent works itself out
  • Aadhaar KYC through DigiLocker, ready before the police come
  • Partners see everything. Managers see what you unlock.
Every feature, explained
Chapter 5

Why Kamer can't read your dataSiva, on encryption in plain words. 1 min.

Your guests' data is locked. Even from us.

Owners call Siva and ask, "Sir, what's my occupancy this month?" He has to say he doesn't know. Guest data is encrypted with a key only the owner holds. He built it that way on purpose.

Nothing lives on the phone. Lose it, buy a new one, log in with your OTP, everything is back. Aadhaar goes through DigiLocker. A manager sees only the buttons you unlock. And if an owner who uses Paytm every day can't use Kamer alone, "that is our problem, not theirs."

How your data is handled
Chapter 6

Three beds. Four months. Zero rent.

A group of hostels in Hyderabad, several partners, several buildings, all run through managers. One building had been reported full for months.

On onboarding day they entered every guest against a bed. Three beds in that building came up green. They had been empty for four months. The register said otherwise, and nobody had reason to doubt it.

Four beds. That's the whole pitch.

Chapter 7

"Not an app. Your building. Wherever you go."

Ask Srinivas why an owner should use it and he doesn't talk about features. He talks about sitting at a table anywhere in the world and seeing how many beds are full at home.

Time, transparency, and the beds you didn't know were empty. That's it. That's the pitch.

Two apps. One price. No onboarding call.

Kamer Owner

Every building you own, in one app. Add partners with equal rights and full reports. Add managers with only the buttons they need: collect rent, add a guest, mark a vacate. The rest stays locked.

Kamer Stay

Guests see their bills, pay rent, do their own KYC with your hostel code, and raise complaints in the app instead of at your door. Rent receipts are there when they file IT returns. Free for guests.

Rs 9,999 a year. Up to 150 beds.

Unlimited buildings, partners and managers. Both apps. WhatsApp support from people who run hostels. Bigger than 150 beds? Call us.
